5 free indie games to try this weekend on your mobile

We have handpicked some of the best indie Android games: they are free and addictive.

A few days ago, we echoed some of the best indie games of 2021 according to Google, a collection of 60 titles from Europe, Japan, and South Korea that the giant picked for access to one of its developers.

With Google not releasing the other half of the list with picks in America and other markets, we’ve scoured this top pick for European games and picked 5 titles we think are perfect to try out this weekend.

All these games are free on Android and have good scores in Google Play Store and addictive and interesting dynamics. We have also chosen titles that were produced in Europe so that there are no language surprises. Here is our selection.

gomslinger

gomslinger

Gumslinger is one of the most popular indie games on the Play Store

With a quirky Western-inspired aesthetic and jelly beans (yes, you read that right), Gumslinger is perhaps the most successful indie game of any Google pick. It has more than 5 million downloads on Google Play and is already recognized as one of the most hilarious shooting games that you can play.

Gumslinger includes different levels and environments for gum shooters, as well as a huge selection of weapons and a story mode with missions and bosses to spare. It also has a promising PvP mode with online tournaments for up to 64 players.

Torres: A Relaxing Puzzle

This is a challenging game that combines the dynamics of puzzles and classic tower building games. It includes hundreds of levels and many game modes to discover its strange puzzles, which will put your area and spatial awareness to the test.

As if that wasn’t enough, it has a graphic section that is as simple as it is convenient, which will remind you a bit of the “extrasensory” experience of Tetris Effect: Connected.

Tofu Drifter

While it’s not a popular title, it’s worth a try, in part because of its playability and uncluttered aesthetic department.

With Tofu Drifter we will travel an endless road where we will have to slide our car to score points, taking care of course not to get off or crash into anything. When we earn points, we can buy new cars or improve tofu production (better not to ask).

Zen Consistency: Relaxing Puzzle Game

Let’s go with another relaxing title. Zen Symmetry is a simple original game where we have to solve symmetry puzzles. Basically, you will have to check the squares that are the same as the ones the game points to.

Something, as simple as it may seem, will test our ability to solve logical problems as well as our memory and spatial vision. It can be played in “zen mode” in which you can play endless levels without stress or experience casual games of a few minutes.

Superstars de Sweet Sins

Sweet Sins Superstars is one of the most special titles in this collection. With more than half a million downloads and great results, this is a cartoon-style music game where we will have to defeat enemies by coordinating our movements to the melody.

A kind of Friday night funken with a kawaii aesthetic that will delight young and old. The game, of course, offers a great musical selection, with titles of different genres. Entertaining and addictive, we promise you’ll be fascinated.
