Immediately tempted, immediately abandoned? According to leaks from China, the first information about the future Xiaomi range about cameras has begun to appear. The rumors come from the famous digital chat station. The latter provokes the abandonment of the iconic 108MP sensor, which has been replaced by a configuration similar to what was offered on the Mi 11 Ultra.

Xiaomi 12 will have x5 optical zoom

With the Mi 11 range, Xiaomi has introduced on its hardware camera a 108MP lens. The result presented was of good quality, as evidenced by our testing of the Xiaomi Mi 11i. The Ultra version of its range has another configuration with a 50-megapixel lens, and two 48-megapixel units. One is a telephoto telescope while the other is an ultra-wide angle. A section of the photos won the approval of the specialized press. According to preliminary information from Digital Chat Station, the Range 12 should be based on the Ultra version for its cameras. The rumors did not specify which devices would be affected.

Be careful, however, these rumors should be taken with caution. And within a few weeks, the same leaker raised the presence of a 200-megapixel lens in the Ultra version of the phone. A unit developed by Samsung. According to these recent rumors, the image configuration on the Xiaomi 12 should be as follows: three 50-megapixel lenses, an ultra-wide angle, and a telephoto. The camera will therefore have a 5x optical zoom. We still have to be patient about the phone’s future. In fact, at the time of writing, we have very little information.

The only certainty about this futuristic range is its naming. Xiaomi earlier said it is giving up “Mi” in order to clarify its smartphone catalog. So the range will be called Xiaomi 12.
