The study of material remains, witnesses of human activity, from prehistoric times to the present day, this is what archeology offers. This discipline has always aroused mystery and question among young and old alike. Who knows how many remains are still waiting to be discovered!
For its part, Occitanie is particularly rich in its archaeological heritage. The area is full of deposits: in total, 56,000 archaeological entities, and all periods of history combined, have been identified, and they will be discovered in museums and other sites in the area. Rencontres d’Archéologie de la Narbonnaise offers you a real dive through the treasures of this heritage, whose brilliance is barely revealed…
Archeology in all its forms
Documentaries, conferences, round tables and exhibitions, the festival has imagined many ways for you to discover the secrets of this scientific discipline. Many competitions are organized for films, books and comics in particular. The winners will be announced during an award ceremony on Saturday 6 November at the Palais-Musée des Archevêques: Documentary Film Award, High School Student Award for Documentary, Archeology Book Grand Prix and Archeology Comic Book Award. # ArchéoPop Day: Narrating archeology through comics and video games
Geeks notice! For the first time this year, Rencontres d’Archéologie de la Narbonnaise a day ArcheopopThursday, November 4, at the Narbo Via Museum. The goal is to include video games in the festival’s programming, just like movies, books and comics! Didier Gillon, Director of Myriad Software and co-founder of Sapiens and Jean-Sebastien Decante, Creative Director of Far Cry Primal at Ubisoft will be discussing prehistory in video games from 2:00 p.m.
At 3.30pm, festival-goers will question the idea of an ‘archeology’ for video games with Bertrand Brocard, Head National Institute of Video Games, Guillaume Montagnon, video game historian, Miguel Herrero Herrero, producer, filmmaker and writer specializing in media archeology, and Mario-Paul Martínez, director, screenwriter and professor of audiovisual communication at the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche.
