Following Palworld, Enshrouded, and Sons of the Forest, another survival video game was released at the beginning of the year. Nightingale, which has reached Early Access, has not enjoyed the same bad reputation as its predecessors. Its developers have realized this, as they are planning a major update for the end of the summer.

Nightingale developers have no sweet dreams.

The Nightingale video game was highly anticipated at the beginning of the year, but it didn’t live up to the expectations. It looked promising on paper since it was created by the creators of Mass Effect. It blends survival and fantasy in a mix that had never been seen before. Expectations have yet to be met. What the early access, which has been available since the end of February, failed to do. Something studio CEO Arin Flynn realizes.Who spoke in a video (watch below) alongside his technical director Neil Thompson.

He admits that he is not satisfied with the state of the game at the moment, the general feeling, and also the number of players. Something we can support with the average of 11,000 total ratings remaining on Steam but also with the attendance measured by Steam DB: over the past three months, the game has only surpassed a thousand concurrent players. At launch, over 40,000 players were connected to the game at the same time.. A number multiplied by six when we see the numbers generated on the Twitch live streaming platform.

Short term and long term project

But Arin Flynn and Neil Thompson don't spend the entire eight minutes lamenting Nightingale's plight. On the contrary, which is why the video is called What's Next for Nightingale? First, they explain that they're finally in a comfortable position:

We've spent a lot of time adding things that were missing. We of course take into account player feedback as well as our own. We're now in a position to think about our game in the long term.

Speaking of the future, a major update is scheduled for the end of the summer. If Inflexion Studios has made it clear that it still has things to check out, it is still keen to publish them. The program includes convenient tweaks to make the game more immersive and less repetitive. This next update also plans to push the limits when it comes to item creation.
