Tom Hardy Reaches Agreement With ‘MobLand’ Producers, Clearing Path for Potential Season 3

As anticipation builds for the return of Paramount+ crime drama MobLand, reports indicate that actor Tom Hardy and the show’s producers have resolved tensions that emerged during production of the series’ second season. The development could help pave the way for a third season, even though Paramount+ has not yet officially renewed the show.

Reported Production Disputes During Season 2

Hardy, who stars as crime fixer Harry Da Souza, was reportedly involved in behind-the-scenes disagreements with members of the production team while filming the upcoming second season.

According to reports, the actor at times remained in his trailer during production delays and offered script feedback to executive producer Jez Butterworth and series creator Ronan Bennett. The reported tensions became a subject of discussion within the production as filming progressed.

One source told The Hollywood Reporter that Hardy’s actions occasionally delayed production and affected fellow cast members.

“He kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play,” the source said. “Keeping [co-stars] Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”

Producers and Hardy Meet in London

Despite the reported disagreements, Hardy and the show’s leadership have since worked to repair their professional relationship.

According to reports, Hardy met in London with executive producer Jez Butterworth and David Glasser of 101 Studios to discuss the future of the series. Executive producer and filmmaker Guy Ritchie, who has directed several episodes of MobLand, also reportedly helped facilitate the reconciliation.

The meeting appears to have eased concerns about Hardy’s future involvement with the project and strengthened the prospects for continued production.

Season 3 Plans Could Move Forward

While Paramount+ has not formally announced a third season, production sources have reportedly been targeting a fall filming start for another installment of the crime drama.

Hardy’s continued participation is considered a significant factor in those plans. With the actor now back on board, the production is expected to face fewer obstacles in meeting its proposed schedule.

Paramount+ declined to comment on the reports.

Inside the World of ‘MobLand’

Set within London’s criminal underworld, MobLand follows Harry Da Souza, a fixer who works for the powerful Harrigan crime family.

The family is led by Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, portrayed by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. The series combines organized crime drama, family power struggles and high-stakes conflicts, making it one of Paramount+’s notable international original productions.

Cast and Creative Team

In addition to Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren, the ensemble cast includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Jasmine Jobson, Mandeep Dhillon, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Janet McTeer, Jordi Mollà and Toby Jones.

The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.

Executive producers include Jez Butterworth, Ronan Bennett, David Glasser, Guy Ritchie, Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, Kris Thykier, Ivan Atkinson, Tom Hardy, Dean Baker, Anthony Byrne, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari.

Looking Ahead

With reported tensions now resolved and key creative figures aligned, MobLand appears positioned to continue its momentum ahead of its second-season premiere later this year. Although a formal Season 3 renewal has yet to be announced, Hardy’s renewed commitment to the project could help keep the crime drama’s future plans on track.
