Free Mobile is ready to cut off 3G service, but is considering some subscribers

Free Mobile, like Orange, SFR and Bouygues Telecom, still offers its own 3G network, but it will eventually disappear. The operator is actually ready to do this now. But he admits that the problem is not technical.

During Free Societies Day, Xavier Neal pointed this out “If we wanted to, we could stop 3G service today.”Adding that “The issue is not technical.”. The problem comes from the fact that some subscribers today are still using phones that are not compatible with 4G or 5G. Therefore, cutting off the third generation service will prevent them from obtaining a network to communicate, send messages, and surf the Internet.

free “Wondering the best way to support subscribers who still have a 3G phone or even a 4G smartphone without VoLTE activation and will therefore be denied calls.”“, noted Xavier Neal.

So there is no date yet for the end of 3G service in Free Mobile. The importance is to find a solution for customers who have a phone that does not support 4G or 5G. Obviously there is no 40 solution: they will have to change the terminals. But some of them, especially those who use it lightly, may not see any benefit in it. What's more, their existing smartphones can work normally.
