Anti-Aging Cocoa Face Mask

A decadent cocoa mask with antioxidants replenishes moisture that restores skin’s youthful appearance. “As skin ages, the moisture barrier breaks down, resulting in dryness and a weakening of the skin’s immunity layer,” says skincare specialist Jasmina Aganovic. “At this point, hydration is the most important skin saver!”

The following is the recipe: 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tbsp sour cream, 1 tbsp honey, and 1 egg. Apply to the face and wait for it to dry before rinsing. This multi-tasking wonder-cream is made up of solid ingredients: Sour cream contains lactic acid, which hydrates when lightly exfoliating; honey is a humectant that also increases hydration; and egg white protein tightens and firms skin.

Nourishing Milk Hand Soak

A warm milk bath is recommended by Debra Jaliman, M.D., a dermatologist in New York City, to soften hard-working hands.

The following is the recipe: 2 to 3 cups whole milk, heated in the microwave until warm (enough to totally submerge both hands). Pour into a bowl and soak hands for five to ten minutes to allow the milk fat to hydrate and the vitamins A and E to nourish dry skin.

Clarifying Oat Face Mask

Apple cider’s high levels of alpha-hydroxy acids help to balance skin’s pH, whereas ground oats help to eliminate excess oil and buildup. Saponins, a naturally strong cleanser, are found in oats, according to Aganovic.

The following is the recipe: In a bowl, whisk together 3 teaspoons ground oats and ¼ teaspoon apple cider until a smooth paste forms. Then stir in ¼ tablespoon lemon juice and ½ tablespoon brown sugar until they are well combined. Allow five to ten minutes for ingredients to penetrate the top layers of the skin after applying to newly cleansed skin. Then exfoliate and increase blood flow by rubbing in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry thoroughly with a towel.

Brightening Blueberry Face Mask

A comforting berry mask will help you detox your face. According to Aganovic, antioxidants in blueberries protect against free radicals and repair earlier damage, while vitamin C in lemons brightens skin.

The following is the recipe: 1 tablespoon smashed ripe blueberries, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon cucumber juice, 2 tablespoons baking soda, and 2 tablespoons water are mixed together and applied to the face. Allow for 15 to 20 minutes of resting time. Rinse gently with warm water and your hands.

Coconut Oil Cuticle Hydrator

Megan Brame-Finkelstein, a skincare specialist, uses coconut oil to nourish dry cuticles. Long-lasting moisture is provided by the heavy oil. Simply apply a small amount to each fingertip and cover with plastic wrap to allow it to sink in.

Exfoliating Baking Soda Foot Soak

According to Dr. Jaliman, a quick foot soak of baking soda and water will do the trick. “The baking soda helps loosen dead skin and treats calluses because it’s abrasive,” she says.

In a shallow tub, add ½ cup baking soda to every gallon of warm water and stir until the powder dissolves. Sit back and relax for about 30 minutes while your feet soak. After rinsing off the baking soda and patting your feet dry, apply foot cream and put on a pair of cotton socks.

Acne-Fighting Tea Leaves Face Toner

Jennifer Yen, designer of the Purlisse Skincare collection, shows you how to make a calming white tea toner with Asian-inspired ingredients. Healthy skin begins on the inside, and she claims that drinking a plain mixture of water and lemon will help start the beautifying effects.

The following is the recipe: In a French press, combine 1 teaspoon peppermint tea leaves, 4 teaspoons white tea leaves, ½ cup boiling distilled water, and 2 drops lavender oil. Allow for a 10-minute steeping period before pouring into a glass container to cool. Fill a 4-oz spray bottle atomizer halfway with aloe vera gel. Before spritzing, keep the bottle in the refrigerator.

Detoxifying Rice Ginger Body Scrub

Make a large batch of Yen’s Asian-inspired body smoother, which features a texture mix powerful enough to slough off any dead skin and expose smooth, radiant legs and arms. Coconut milk is high in hydrating, healthy fats, and ginger helps to reduce inflammation and cleanse the skin. “The rice grains act as a natural exfoliant,” says Yen. “The rice starch soothes wounded and irritated skin,” says the author.

The following is the recipe: To make a paste, combine ½ cup ground rice (ground in a blender), ½ cup coconut milk, ¼ cup brown sugar, and 1½ tbsp ground ginger. Rub the mixture all over with your hands in a circular motion. The scrub will polish the whole body after a few minutes.

For the perfect pout, mix together these lip-savers from Beverly Hills aesthetician Gina Mar — scrubs aren’t just for the face or body.

The following is the recipe: In a small mixing bowl, combine 1 teaspoon coconut oil, 1 teaspoon raw honey, 2 tablespoons raw sugar, and a dash of lemon juice. Apply the mixture in a mild circular motion with a new toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and apply your favorite lip balm. Not a fan of lemons? A mixture of 2 to 3 tablespoons crumbled oats, 1 teaspoon honey, ½ tsp apple cider vinegar, and one drop of tea tree oil is also recommended by Mar.
