Surat municipality building was robbed between 28 and 29 January. The thieves left with some items. But no valuable material was stolen.
The Surat Municipal Building in Arij was the victim of a burglary. After noticing the intrusion on Saturday morning, the mayor of the village, Jean-Luc Rouen, alerted the gendarmerie of Tarascon: “One or more persons entered the town hall by breaking through part of the door of the secretariat office in the garden.”, explains the chosen side. “This burglary could have happened between Friday 28th January at 1:30pm and Saturday 29th at 9:30am.
After being notified very quickly, the gendarmerie went to the scene on Saturday morning and thus noticed the intrusion and looting … out of the ordinary. In fact, except for a broken window, no vandalism was observed and no high-value equipment was stolen: “Many cupboards and drawers (storage) were opened without being looted,” says Jean-Luc Roan. “The first results show the disappearance of a box, a metal case, a saw, cutting pants, packages of gloves,” the mayor explains. Thus, neither computer nor any other computer was stolen: “The safe contains a metal box and a deposit check. There does not appear to be a shortage of official parts or stamps,” reassures Jean-Luc Roan.
A complaint has been submitted to the gendarmerie and an investigation is underway.
