Many New World fans are eagerly waiting for the free server transfer in the New World promised by Amazon Games. Early this week, it will be possible to transfer your character of your choice to another server that is chosen completely freely. This can be used to avoid long queues, or if you’ve already started on a newer server, you can finally move on to other players.

But nothing will come after the feature’s launch this week. On the night of Friday, October 8 through Saturday, October 9, 2021, there was an extensive update message from Amazon Games regarding the transfers. As mentioned there, they work incredibly hard to test the feature and bring it to a level where you can be sure everything works as it should.

Amazon games need more time

While the goal is for all players to soon be able to find their permanent home on Aeternum, they still want to make sure that the transfers are technically ready for use.

However, during the tests, and in some cases were encountered problems that do not meet the criteria required for release. So, take extra time to correct these errors. Only when that’s done should all players get a “free server transfer code,” as Amazon Games calls it.

This is how transfers work

While we’ll have to wait a little longer than expected and plan out the new feature, Amazon Games is giving us some details in the blog post on the official New World forum about how the transfers will work once they’re activated.

  • You have to log in to the character chosen for the transfer (thus torturing you through any existing queue).
  • In the game, you maneuver to the in-game store, where you can claim your character’s transfer code.
  • You must leave your company before the transfer.
  • You must cancel active buy and sell orders in the last trade.
  • Your character must be in a settlement or outpost.

What comes with the new server?

  • Once the character is moved to another server, all your progress (level, tournaments, titles, etc.) will be preserved.
  • You also maintain your faction and the progress made there.
  • Banks and inventory, including their contents, are also kept perfectly.
  • All coins will be kept.
  • Homes and their furnishings can also be used 1 to 1.
  • So your task progress remains exactly as it was on your original server.

What is not on your new server?

  • As mentioned earlier, membership in the company must be terminated. None of this will work across the board.
  • All interactions with the Trading Center must be terminated and cannot work across servers.
  • Your friends list is tied to a certain world and therefore it is not hacked either.

Where can you transfer?

  • With a few exceptions, you can transfer your character to any world in your area (such as Central Europe).
  • Exceptions:
    > Complete worlds not available as destination.
    > Realms in maintenance not available as a target.
    > Realms in which you already have an existing character that is not available as a target.

Additional tokens are loaded

Amazon Games also goes to the point that will come once it deals with the first wave of server transfers. What happens if you want to change servers again, eg because you are not satisfied, you want to change your friends again or some other obvious reason happens?

Later, after all players have had the opportunity to find a suitable server for themselves, transfer tokens will be offered for purchase in the in-game store. Before this service becomes a paid offer, they want to connect with the community again and learn more.
