Anbernic has released a slew of gaming consoles this year, arguably more than its competitors. As far as we can tell, the company has been releasing new hardware every month since the beginning of 2024. Specifically, Anbernic has started selling the following consoles this year:
Today the company unveiled what appears to be its August hardware release. Unlike its previous releases, its latest model is actually an update to a nearly decade-old device. This time it’s the K101 Plus, which started out as the Revo K101 Plus In 2015 Before Anbernic bought it In 2022.
Previously, Anbernic sold the K101 Plus in a red and gold colorway that resembled some of the Game & Watch units. ($48.97 currently on Amazon)While that option is still out of stock, a “blue” alternative is now available, which looks a lot like the purple version of the GameCube. As far as we can tell, Anbernic just gave the K101 Plus a lick of paint instead of incorporating upgraded internals. So the $69.99 handheld, which can be ordered now from Anbernic, has the following hardware specs:
- 800mAh battery
- 32MB SDRAM
- 3 inch LCD screen, 320 x 480 pixels resolution (2:3 aspect ratio)
- AV output
- Dual CPU architecture with GBA cartridge support
- Connection cable
- Mini USB port
