The Californian manufacturer introduced a new generation of MacBook Pro, largely redesigned. They are also incorporating their own processors, marking Intel’s farewell.
MacBooks continue to move into a new era. After the MacBook Air arrived – for the first time – with a self-designed chip, Apple took a new step. The company has unveiled two new MacBook Pro computers, integrating two new processors, which are much more powerful than those of Intel, which equipped the previous versions.
The new MacBook Pro comes in two 14- and 16-inch versions, and they will be available from October 26. The first from 2249 euros compared to 2749 euros for the large format.
Redesigned design, increased strength
The list of new features for the MacBook Pro (2021) is rather long. It starts with a comprehensive aesthetic overhaul, in order to optimize the screen borders as much as possible. This development is accompanied by the arrival of a black notch at the top of the panel, similar to what is found on the iPhone.
Display quality is developing positively, with displays that take advantage of mini-LED technology, which can be found especially in the iPad Pro. The panel thus guarantees a contrast level close to infinity, as OLED allows.
Like the iPhone 13 Pro, the MacBook Pro features ProMotion technology, which changes the screen’s refresh rate between 24 and 120 times per second, for smoother operation while saving power when needed.
Depending on the version, the new MacBook Pro integrates the M1 Pro or M1 Max chipset, which, according to the examples taken by the brand, triples the speed of performing the most demanding tasks in video editing or programming compared to the previous model. Some uses, for example to display 4K video, can be up to 13 times faster.
Thanks to its internal processor, Apple also promises autonomy that can reach 17 or 21 hours in video playback, almost double the previous generation. A jump has already been observed On the first MacBook Pro Equipped with the M1 chip, which was released at the end of 2020.
Goodbye Touch Bar, MagSafe is back
The Touch Bar functionality has often been avoided by users since it arrived in 2016, and Apple has abandoned it. It is replaced by the classic function keys dangling on the keyboard. However, MagSafe, a magnetic power port, is making a big comeback. Connectivity is completed by three USB-C sockets, a socket, an SD card reader, and an HDMI port.
Here again, we can assume that the brand has taken into account the feedback of the most demanding users, given the lack of adequate communication for their activities.
Apple is responding to another request, this time shared by millions of remote workers around the world who are used to video conferencing. Webcam quality has been improved (finally) thanks to Full HD (1080p) image resolution.
