Mersburg –
For virtual reality buddies, the planetarium offers a trip to Mars and a visit to an exhibition on Saturday. All this does not happen in the planetarium, but in virtual space. So, according to Mechthild Meinike, the show is aimed at those who have VR glasses. Even those who don’t have one can participate.
Virtual tour of Mars in the planetarium in Marsburg
A few weeks ago, the president of Star Friends created a virtual room on AltspaceVR and named it “Rover Missions on Mars”. Meanwhile, she has already brought with her many interested parties on the trip there. “A total of 700 people visited this easy-to-reach space,” Meinike says surprised. Because it is not easy to find it in the virtual world.
But because everything is different in these months, Meinike now wants to celebrate Astronomy Day, which is Sunday, with a virtual tour. Astronomy virtual reality worlds can be found on the AltspaceVR platform. With a VR headset or computer and after downloading the AltspaceVR-2D app, you can also participate in it. However, you still need a login that you will have to create.
A virtual exhibition on astrophotography opened
At 7 p.m., Meinike actually starts up in the OculusQuest / Rift Germany group room on AltspaceVR for a briefing to Mars, after which he actually turns to an astronomer, where Donald Schwab informs future astronomers about the types of novice telescopes and telescopes.
It will also open a virtual exhibition on astrophotography. More information, including access, is available on the Planetarium website at www.planetarium-merseburg.de (mz)
