Like a smartphone, the Oled display gets a lot of attention on a laptop.

Asus clearly accentuates the ZenBook’s Oled display with a large sticker attached to the cover, which calls out all the features it offers. Similarly, there is a very valuable caveat to avoid breadboard: “Please avoid prolonged display of still images set at maximum brightness, which may permanently damage the Oled panel.” During use, I immediately found the screen to be responsive, great colors and deep blacks. Working with this computer will give you real pleasure over time. Whether it’s for editing photos or watching trailers, it’s amazing! The colors are loyal, vibrant and vibrant. The quality is already there.

Variable brightness makes it possible to work anywhere, including outdoors and in broad daylight. The night light (off by default) is also very useful. The screen does not tire the eyes and provides the user with efficiency and comfort. The contrast is perfect. I only point out a little disappointingly, but not at all annoying: the viewing angles. You should stay in front of the board and not look at it too much from the sides to avoid the effects of parasites. Like a smartphone, the Oled display gets a lot of attention on a laptop. This offers a real added value to the user. Asus didn’t lie: its screen is exceptional and its borders are perfect! I won…

Introducing the Oled display, Asus promises us deep blacks and almost endless contrasts… Suffice to say, the result is a success!

The Asus shown has a 13.3-inch Oled screen (1920 x 1080 pixels) with an aspect ratio of 16:9. Using a 15.6-inch screen, I find the 13.3-inch to be a bit insufficient for office tasks. However, this is enough for surfing the Internet or watching movies. Introducing the Oled display, Asus promises us deep blacks and almost endless contrasts… Suffice to say, the result is a success! Once you get a taste of this Oled screen, it will be difficult for you to switch to a regular LCD screen. The magic works perfectly when you are in a dark or dimly lit room. While watching a movie, you can see all the details of dark scenes and you will be amazed by those brighter and more colorful scenes! Even for other uses, you will quickly see the image quality. Additionally, I find that the screen also keeps all its promises against eye strain.

The only downside is that some annoying reflections appear on the screen when placed near a window. Regarding burn in Oled screens (continuation of image after still image displayed for a long time), it is a pity that Asus does not provide so little information. There is no advice about this in the user manual, although there are many static images on the computer (Windows taskbar, Internet bookmarks bar, etc.). Should a problem occur, Asus offers a mechanism called OLED Care which allows you to switch to a custom screen saver after a period of inactivity. It remains to be seen if this solution will suffice in the long term. pound sterling “Pixel update” like TVs?

Beautiful Oled board in incredibly vivid and bright colors.

Although it’s a bit bright, the screen is the highlight of this laptop. Beautiful Oled board in incredibly vivid and bright colors. Compared to traditional monitors, they also do not cause any visual strain. At these points, the device delivers on all its promises! However, the smoothness of the screen edges could be improved. This has nothing to do with the old ZenBook which had very thick borders, but some manufacturers like Dell offer borders like no other. The black bar with the Asus ZenBook engraving at the bottom of the screen will also benefit from being smaller in favor of a larger screen size.

Note that this ultrabook is not tactile. Even if I personally find it to be a functional “tool” and not very useful, for some it remains a must. With this kind of glossy panel, it is not possible to work outdoors in broad daylight. It’s a form intended for indoor use, but you can’t have it all! In fact, a matte screen cannot offer such vivid colors. As to whether the difference between a laptop with an Oled screen and a classic screen justifies a PC change, the answer is no as far as I’m concerned. In my opinion, Old Tablet is more of an evolution than a real revolution.

To test the response time of the board, I watched a tennis match and saw that the ball was still very clear.

On this Zenbook, the picture quality is really there. To challenge the Oled panel and its promises of infinite contrast and better color rendering, I positioned the Zenbook next to an IPS LED display. By shooting highly visual films (Sin CityAnd the 300And the neon demon And the Blade RunnerOn both screens at the same time, I was able to spot the perfection of blacks in Oled! On the other hand, I have the impression that some colors like red and blue tend to get saturated. This is probably the desired effect on the movies I’ve seen, but I think it’s best to use a calibration probe to get the colors right. To test the response time of the board, I watched a tennis match and saw that the ball was still very clear.

The fact that the manufacturer has chosen a glossy palette instead of a matte one pays off for the contrasts and colors. On the other hand, you shouldn’t really have a window or a light source behind your laptop, as this generates reflections that can be very annoying. I tried to compensate for this effect by setting the brightness to maximum, but it quickly hurts the eyes. It is best to activate Eye Care mode in the options that reduce blue light by 30%, but the reflections are still present. It is not very inconvenient for daily navigation, but it changes colors for watching videos. In my opinion, this is the only weak point of this screen which is undoubtedly the best I was able to test on an ultrabook.

In broad daylight, vivid colors, infinite contrast and respectable maximum brightness give this screen a very good view.

This model offers an Oled screen shaded with an ultra-thin border. The result is especially stunning in low light conditions. Despite the screen size of 13.3 inches, watching the content is very immersive. When dark mode is activated, the colors flatter the retina. Even the GUI elements look shimmering. On the other hand, some filled areas appear saturated solid colors. Tones of red, green, and blue are particularly prone to this phenomenon and struggle to faithfully reproduce it. The eggs tend to be slightly bluish by default. This screen cannot be used as the main benchmark. Asus also offers a utility that allows you to configure the display to your liking. Although it is easy to understand, this program does not allow to completely correct these small flaws.

In broad daylight, vivid colors, infinite contrast and respectable maximum brightness give this screen a very good view. However, the glossy panel prevents any use in direct sunlight. Viewing angles are excellent in all conditions. The definition of Full HD finally remains relevant to this diameter. At a normal operating distance, staring is not enough to distinguish pixels.

to summarize

Lured by its design and ergonomics, the Asus ZenBook 13 Oled laptop impresses with its display quality. For our five reader testers, the Oled palette keeps all its promises by delivering vivid colors, infinite contrasts, and deep blacks. In addition to the ultra-fast response time, the screen provides accurate and detailed images. All our readers point to the impressive quality of the photos, whether for watching videos or browsing the Internet. Our readers also highly praised the screen eye strain treatment. However, opinions are more contradictory regarding the reflections of the glossy panel when it is near an intense light source. However, nothing holds back our praise-filled readers with this Oled display. Hélène thinks it would be hard for her to go back to the classic LCD, while Benoit and Régis say they’ve totally won this Oled panel. See you in a few days to find out the results of the reader test process for the ZenBook 13 Oled laptop.
