Revisiting the past to rethink the future
Created by artists Sophie Castonguay and Hélène Brunet Neumann, Nourrir l'invisible is inspired by this site, which was occupied by the former Paquin et fils department store until its demolition in 2020, and is now hosted by the Boîte à Surprise.
This project is based on photographs from the SOPABIC archives. By questioning forgetfulness, the work raises reflections on our future as a society in the face of the industrialization of our time. For Brunet-Newman and Castonguay, art is a vehicle for social inquiry.

Virtual Reality: Download the App
Artists use virtual reality to immerse viewers in a digital environment that provides a sensory experience close to reality.

To see the project in all its splendor, it is necessary to have a mobile device connected to the city's WiFi connection and download the Elysium app via the elysium.ar website. Headphones are recommended for a full audio experience. Instructions are available in the app and on the website. The audio editing of the work was done by Mathieu Marcoux and Mythologi is their technology solutions partner.

This augmented reality experience is presented by Les Flâneurs erratiques, an organization that supports emerging practices and experimentation in interdisciplinary and digital art in relation to research focused on environmental protection, preservation of natural and cultural heritage, and consolidation of the social fabric. The project is made possible with financial support from the Canada Council for the Arts.
