On paper, Roberto De Zerbi's version of Olympique de Marseille was a success on its debut. The Phocaeans made short work of Brest. Mason Grewood and Luis Henrique each scored twice. Elie Wahi made his debut in his new colours. Geronimo Rulli was decisive in the first half. Even if Roberto De Zerbi pointed to a few shortcomings in his team, Marseille had a good first match against the bottom third in Ligue 1.
A heavy result for Brest showed good things especially in the first half. At the end of the match, Eric Roy wanted to put his team's defeat in perspective by explaining that “On XG, there is only one goal difference, so the score is very heavy.
“I've never seen a huge OM”
Daniel Riolo shares the same opinion about the Brest coach. The RMC advisor has always been very critical, and has shown pessimism. “Like Eric Roy, I also haven’t seen a formidable team. We saw De Zerbi’s ball for the first goal, but if they do it again in the next three games, it’s because either the opponent is stupid or Marseille does it very well. It’s ultimately absolutely fundamental and I’d be surprised if it works every time. All this has to be reviewed and confirmed. After that, it will give them confidence, but it’s just the beginning. There are great promises and I really want to be there next weekend to see Marseille again.” Daniel Riolo explained on RMC antennas.

I have been passionate about sports since childhood, and I was amazed by the exploits of Juninho. I am a great fan of Olympique Lyonnais and Peter Sagan, and I live to the rhythm of sporting events. After obtaining a degree in political science, I returned to my first passion by taking over the editorial board of We Sport in July 2022, then more recently at DailyMercato. I recently decided to leave the grey Pas-de-Calais for the sun of Andalusia.
