Don’t want to use Google Lens in Chrome for desktop? Follow these steps

Google has put a lot of emphasis on Google Lens and its ability to search for images. The functionality goes beyond the research we have been accustomed to for years on a daily basis. So it is only natural to bring this novelty to other places and to your services.

Proof of this came with one of Chrome’s recent desktop updates, where the right-click menu now has the ability to search for Google Lens. Of course, you may not want to have this option, just follow these steps.

Hit Google Lens Search on Chrome

Although it hasn’t announced it directly, Google has brought an important new feature to Chrome. Image search has been removed from the context menu, now offering the ability to search with Lens.

The process is the same, except that the search destination is now passed to Google Lens. Everything that we are used to in this service, on other platforms, we also have here ready to use, even the possibility to select the part of the image to be searched.

Responses appear instantly, allowing the user to have instant access to the results. In addition to what the images offer, users can also access the pages where the images appear, in order to get some context.

How to return to image search

Since not everyone is happy with this new option, Google has given Chrome users the option to turn off this option. In doing so, they become familiar with what they used to use, and image search is the option.

To do this, Chrome users should open the address chrome://flags, then search for “Search your screen with Google Lens.” This option should be set to default and should be changed to Disabled. Finally, they need to restart Chrome.

There is a much less risky option

Anyone who prefers to take a less hardline stance on image search has an option that Google has left in Lens. They should keep all the options as they are and unchanged by doing a simple search on an image.

In the results that appear, there will be a barely visible option that they can use. After all the results displayed, on the right side there will be a special button that will give access to the traditional search for images.

If you don’t want Google Lens on Chrome, you have to choose one of the two options we provided. One is more drastic and eliminates this option completely. The other, more classic one, gives access to whatever they want, but with a little detour to get there.
