DuckDuckGo: The desktop browser in the making

So far, DuckDuckGo is known primarily as an alternative to Google search – with a strong focus on protecting privacy. Search service DuckDuckGo also makes its money through ads, but unlike its big competitor, advertising is not personalized. This won’t work at all, say the developers at DuckDuckGo, because they don’t even collect the user data needed for this. In addition, the manufacturer has a browser for Android and iOS in the program, which, of course, uses search through the internal service. There is a version for PC that is missing so far, but that should change soon.

K The manufacturer’s blog entry reveals that developers are already working on a browser version for Windows and Mac. Few details are known so far. Obviously, unlike many competitors, the new browser does not want to rely not on the Chromium technical subgroup, but on the technology in question that the operating system provides for viewing Internet pages. This should result in cleaner code and ultimately a faster pace of work on the Internet. Of course, most privacy protection settings should be activated by default in the DuckDuckGo browser so that users don’t have to search for them in menus. The play button next to the address bar, which is already available in the smartphone variants of the browser, should be noticeable. With this kind of panic button, you can delete your entire browser history and other usage data with a single click. In addition, all open tabs are immediately closed.

It is still unclear when desktop browsers will finally be released.
