Berlin (dpa) – Team Liquid e-athletes have won the second European Challengers Championship in stage three of the Valorant Champions Tour. Against Giants Gaming, the team took a 3-1 win according to the charts (13:5; 10:13; 13:10; 13:6)
“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” said Liquid professional Elias “Jambi” Olkonen after winning the tournament. The Finnish e-sportsman was particularly pleased with the successful revenge against Giants Gaming. They had previously won the head-to-head duel between the two teams in the upper bracket final. The questioner had to sit and secure the final with the bottom bracket. “They punished us in the match. We were only ready today so I’m glad we won.”
The tournament’s success is tied to qualification for Challengers Playoffs from August 12-22 for the Dutch esports organisation. Here the pros from Team Liquid can once again meet eligible Giants Gaming as well.
The same applies to the successful teams of the first European competitor: Acend, G2 Esports, Guild Esports and FunPlus Phoenix. The field of qualifiers in the EMEA region was completed by three teams from Turkey and three teams from the CIS countries. The top four qualifying teams will advance to the Berlin Masters in September.
British esports organization Fnatic is doomed – after being in the final at the last Masters in Reykjavik. Losing to Liquid in the bottom bracket final means third place in the contenders, who do not qualify for the playoffs.
