Forgot your iPhone passcode? Learn how to unlock your device, put it into recovery mode, and set it up again without having to go through the launcher. Locate the iPhone in Finder or iTunes on the computer it’s connected to. Select Restore when the Restore or Update options appear.

The computer downloads the software to the iPhone and starts the restore process. Wait for the process to complete. Disconnect the iPhone from your computer, then set up and use the iPhone.

If the download takes more than 15 minutes and the device exits the recovery mode screen, let the download complete, then turn off the iPhone and start over.
