The saga of ‘Syberia’, a landmark in the world of video games, returns with a fourth episode that revives the classic ‘point’n click’. A well-made adventure game, “Syberia: The World Before” highlights the incredibly beautiful universe imagined by the late Benoit Sokal.

After the somewhat disappointing third episode released in 2017, “Syberia: The World Before” should make everyone agree. This fourth part, available for a few weeks, and which can be played independently of the first three, really delivers on all its promises.
We find the iconic heroine of the franchise, Kate Walker, who is left imprisoned at the bottom of a secret mine in Russia at the end of “Siberia 3”. She will have to escape to find her identity and uncover the mysteries buried for a long time.
Exploration and meditation
Based on two intersecting plots, taking place in different historical periods and in different geographical locations, the game introduces the incarnation of Kate Walker alternating with a new highly successful character: Dana Rose. This talented 17-year-old pianist lives in Bavaria in 1937 and has to face the rise of fascism called “brown shadow” in this ancient world.

Benoit Sokal’s world
Because “Siberia: The Former World” fascinates with its artistic beauty and this is the fruit of the work of Benoit Sokal, creator of the franchise world. Belgian screenwriter and comics writer, particularly known for “Inspector Canardo Investigations”, became a video game designer in the late 1990s and identified himself in this environment with “Lammerson” and then “Siberia”. He passed away in May 2021, unfortunately he could not see the very good result of this fourth episode.
“We are at a level of quality, directing, narrative, and production that is impressive for a European game on a much smaller budget than a big American production,” said Stefan Lourenço, the show’s producer. “Point Barre” on Couleur 3, which also highlights the quality of the soundtrack by the famous Israeli composer Inon Tzur (“Syberia 3”, “Fallout”, “Dragon Age”, “Prince of Persia”).
