Ikea is expanding its range of smartphone accessories. Now there is a whole range of new devices for wireless charging of mobile phones.
Modern cell phones can also often be charged wirelessly. But many people do not know this or hardly take the opportunity. It has advantages: instead of fiddling with a cable in the device, the cell phone should simply be placed on a charging pad.
Ikea has been offering suitable appliances – or pieces of furniture with a built-in charging pad – for a long time. There are now a few other devices – including a furniture adjuster with a charging function.

The latter is called “Sjömärke” (€30) at Ikea. In the end, it is a rectangular shipping pad that simply attaches under shelves, countertops, and similar surfaces using double-sided adhesive tape. Then you can simply place your mobile phone on top of the plate on the rack for charging. But for this to work, the thickness of the shelf should be no more than 22 mm.
Many users can also find the Wireless Charging Stand (€13) of the “Nordmärke” series very practical: this is a mobile phone holder in which the device is charged at the same time. The base is made of bamboo, and the back is made of plastic with a textured look.

Portable charger/battery pack (20€), also called “Nordmärke”, is not currently available in Germany. Here, too, Ikea relies on the appearance of the fabric. According to Caschy’s blog, the built-in battery has a capacity of 6500 mAh – depending on the cell phone, that’s enough for one and a half to two charging cycles – if placed poorly on the charging pad, it could be less.
There are also visually updated versions of the simple charging pad (€8) – also with a Texit look and three colors available.
None of the offered products are new in themselves – similar products can be found elsewhere at similar prices. However, the Ikea variants are a bit nicer than the average no-name device. So, if you put the accessories in your cart the next time you go shopping at Ikea, you won’t necessarily get anything special, but you probably won’t go wrong with it either.
