Games | Valhaim, the game of Vikings that invade the web

It is the sense of the moment. Valhaim, the game inspired by Norse mythology, and especially the Vikings, was a huge hit. Already more than five million copies have been sold since its release on February 2 on the online Steam platform. Published by Coffee Stain Publishing, at its peak, the game brought together more than 500,000 online players at once, and regularly reviewed among the world’s most played games on the platform developed by Valve.

Valheim is also hugely popular on Twitch with over 20 million hours of gameplay recorded since its release. The game produced by Swedish studio Iron Gate
It was even the seventh most watched on the platform. “We really didn’t expect such successHenrik Thornqvist, one of the five creators and co-founder of Iron Gate, told AFP.

So why is this glory? First, it’s (very) affordable. It was sold for only € 20, it is currently only available in the first version, and it is regularly updated. Its full version is not expected before 2022.

Dealing with it is also very easy. In short, you are a Viking in the lands of Valheim, and you will have to earn your place in Valhalla by fighting monsters in remote lands. More precisely, our character joins Valheim, the tenth world of Norse mythology, in order to become their guardian. Then Hugin, Odin’s messenger, comes to meet us to explain our only mission in the game: to kill five bosses and place their remains in a sanctuary.

The artistic direction is outside the norm. Quite clear and surprising, the aesthetic waltz between the dotted designs, with a totally retro effect at the end, while providing totally plush lighting.

It might be a fad, but Valheim in any case would have made an impressive entry into the gaming arena.
