With seven two-player monitors, HP is comprehensively expanding its gaming range. The X27c, X27qc, and X32c models have a VA curved panel. The IPS flat panel is used in X27, X27q, X32 and X34. HP names a 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and AMD FreeSync Premium for each of them.
HDR is relevant but hardly implemented
In the available press materials, HP cites a study in which 71 percent of gamers surveyed stated that HDR was one of the most important features of a gaming monitor. Even more surprisingly, only three of HP’s seven new monitors are HDR certified. DisplayHDR 400 is also the lowest of the VESA HDR standard.
All new models in the X Series offer an adjustable stand (Pivot available only on X27 and X27q), EyeSafe certification and access to functionality in OMEN’S GAME CENTER. Moreover, the manufacturer declares that the screens “sustainable production” And “80% made from recycled materials and recyclable packaging” exist.
Four times IPS without curvature
The four newcomers are specified with flat-panel IPS panels of 400 cd/m² brightness, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio as well as 8-bit color depth and 99 percent sRGB. The cheapest model is the HP X27, which displays 1,920 x 1,080 pixels on a diagonal of 27 inches for 269 euros and does not have an HDR certification. The remaining models offer HDR 400. The X27q (27-inch, €333) and X32 (31.5-inch, €399) offer a higher WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
The X34 (34-inch, €499), which ComputerBase has already reported, has 3440 x 1440 pixels in a 21:9 format. The X27 and X27q are already available in stores and currently cost €249 and €333 at the cheapest dealers. The X32 should be available in October and the X34 from November.
Triple curved VA without HDR
The screen of models marked with a small “c” is curved in a radius of 1.5 meters (1500R), which is intended for increased immersion. The VA panel is slightly darker at 350 cd/m², but offers a much higher contrast ratio of 1,000:1. None of the VA projectors have HDR certification.
The 27-inch X27c with Full HD is the base model, priced at €289 and available in September. With the X27qc, WQHD resolution is available from September for 333 euros in the same diagonal. Full HD on 31.5 inches means the X32c has a low pixel density of 70 ppi for 399 euros, which will be available from October.
