GTA 6 Still On Track For 2025 – Strike Doesn't Affect Game

Just a few hours ago, Rockstar parent company Take-Two held a call with its investors regarding its latest financial results. A chance to catch up on some important figures from the Grand Theft Auto license, and also glean some information about GTA 6. Here's a big recap of everything discussed during the call.

Important points

  • GTA 6 is still scheduled to be released in the fall of 2025.
  • SAG-AFTRA strikes will not affect GTA 6 and will not cause any lag.
  • Fiscal year 2026 will be very strong for Take-Two, confirming a GTA 6 release in the fall of 2025.
  • Take-Two is open to user-generated content and modding in its games. The company makes it clear that it is interested in creating great entertainment products, not UGC platforms like Roblox.
  • GTA 5 failed to sell its usual 5 million copies in three months. The overall performance of GTA Online is declining. This downward trend is expected to continue.
  • Despite the decline, GTA Online, GTA 5The entire GTA series and the GTA Online subscription service are gaining momentum in anticipation of GTA 6.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Redemption Online continue to please Take-Two. Expect ongoing monthly events and no new DLC.
  • GTA 5 has sold over 200 million copies (less than 5 million copies sold this quarter) while the GTA series has sold 430 million copies. That's an increase of 5 million compared to the previous quarter.

Modification at the heart of the experience

As you can see, things are on track. It makes perfect sense that Grand Theft Auto V is slowing down. Players are waiting for GTA 6 as they should, and Take-Two has been very reassuring. Right now, there is no delay and that is a good thing, especially in the current climate.

Interestingly, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick insisted on the modding theme. Creativity and sharing will certainly be a key point in the future part of the saga. Maybe we can also share our experiences with “mods” via fake social networks.

Finally, know that GTA 6 is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and Playstation 5.
