Since Tuesday, March 1, Gwenel Peyote is the first health professional on the new mobile team of physical therapists and masseuses that will be working in Montlucon County.
Inner discovery for the mobile team
24-year-old Domiratoise takes charge from Camille Sabassier and Adrian Buenas, who formed the second mobile team from July 14, 2021 to January 14, 2022.
Gwénaëlle Piot discovered this mobile team created by PETR Pays de la Vallée de Montluçon et du Cher, Montluçon Communauté, the Allier County Council and the Regional Union of Health Professionals (URPS) Auvergne Rhone Alps physiotherapists, by meeting at the Montluçon Hospital Center, Camille Sabassier.
“After my studies in Spain, I did a three-week training to get my degree equivalency. I wasn’t sure what to do next. I thought why not make substitutions? Camille told me about the mobile team. I followed them for two days and accepted”

Medical intervention only
Like her predecessors, the young woman would only intervene with a prescription and had registered for six months. “I will be on Tuesday and Thursday in the Doyet-Besnais region, Monday and Wednesday in Horel and Domerat and the rest in Montlaucon including the hospital.”
She should be joined in the summer by two other physiotherapists, graduates of the schools of Grenoble and Vichy.

Kareem Zaher, mobile team coordinator, is so happy to see this third team arrive.
“We have such a great demand that we can no longer meet it. With my colleague, as well as our patients in the office, we work in two buildings, an Ehpad and a home for the disabled, so we do not have time to work at home.”

A national shortage of physiotherapists
This shortage of masseuses and physical therapists affects all of France due to the lack of enough trained professionals while the French population is getting older. This shortage is exacerbated in Alire because rural areas and small towns do not attract young graduates.
“There is work everywhere. Young physiotherapists are spoiled for choice. It is very rare that they come to Montluçon with the first intention. It is the same problem for general practitioners. Medical deserts are the same”, regrets Karim Zaher.
