Screenshot: What is it for?
What is a screenshot?
Screenshot is a useful feature to save an image and share it with other people. The principle is to repeat the content of the screen by simply pressing one or more buttons. This option has been around since the mid-1960s, but was originally intended only for computer-based text content. The functionality was quickly developed to allow a copy of all or part of the visible screen, on a computer as well as on a smartphone.
What facilities?
Screenshots are useful in many ways. Among other things, it allows:
- To record a private conversation in case of harassment or insults
- To record an error message or a warning window
- To archive website development and status
- To film a tutorial or practical guide
- To perpetuate an important fact.
Some apps, to avoid vulnerabilities, prohibit taking screenshots. This is for example the case of banking applications. If it is easy to take screenshots on a computer, the process is also possible on a smartphone, especially on a Samsung device.
Take a screenshot on your Samsung phone: Guide
To take a screenshot with your Samsung smartphone, the most popular way is to hold down the Power On/Off and Volume Down buttons simultaneously. When you do this, the screen starts flashing and the screenshot is saved. On some Samsung phones, you have to press and hold the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time. Likewise, once this is done, the screen flashes and the screenshot is saved.
On other Samsung smartphones, to take a photo, simply swipe the screen with the edge of your hand, from right to left or vice versa. Previously, you must have activated the “Swipe to capture” function. To do this, go to the settings of your phone, click on “Advanced functions”, then on “Movements and gestures”, and activate this function.
Also note that once you take the screenshot, it is automatically saved to your gallery. You can then move it from one album to another, edit it (crop it, add annotations, etc.) and/or share it, like any other photo.
