Huawei MatePad 11 review: the first tablet under HarmonyOS 2

The MatePad 11 offers a single 13-megapixel image module. The latter is accompanied by a flash. There is not much to say about the result, which is only good during the day.

Main unit: 13 MP, f / 1.8

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (27mm equivalent, f/1,9, ISO 64, 1/100 sec)
Huawei MatePad 11 (f/1,8, ISO 172, 1/50 sec)

In the daytime, the MatePad 11 offers a properly exposed shot, much better than the one on the Samsung tablet. The picture is generally well detailed – the software processing is less powerful than that of the Tab S6 Lite.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (27mm equivalent, f/1,9, ISO 1250, 1/10 sec)
Huawei MatePad 11 (f/1.9, ISO 5549, 1/11 sec)

But at night, the story is different. Huawei’s processing smooths out all the details of the image scene in an effort to erase the appearance of digital noise due to the strong sensitivity increase (ISO 5549). In the end, cliches remain of little use. Compassion.

Front and video unit

On the front, Huawei equips its tablet with an 8-megapixel unit. If taking a selfie remains a risky exercise with such a large device, the camera is ideal for video conferencing. Especially since the latter is positioned on the right edge of the device and is therefore facing your face when the tablet turns to landscape. The quality is good without being excellent either, but it’s more than enough for video calls.

In video, the tablet can shoot up to 4K at 30 frames per second. It’s always nice to capture, even if shooting with a tablet is still pretty rare after all – especially with the close to 500 grams at arm’s length.
