In Pont-Audemer (Eure), the public can again climb the stern court staircase that was built at the end of the 19th century and closed for more than ten years after the reform of the department’s judicial system. After passing through the huge hall with its dome planted several dozen meters away and its columns in the Greco-Roman style, visitors can reach the various courtrooms where the trial and civil and legal proceedings once took place. It is in this place full of different stories and facts that so many other projects have failed, the city has chosen to create a digital museum, Micro Folie. Organized by technicians from the Théâtre L’Éclat, it is the first of its kind in Eure.
The Micro Folie, carried by the Parc de la Villette in Paris, was born in 2017 in Sevran in partnership with twelve institutional institutions such as the Center Pompidou, the Palais de Versailles, the Cité de la Musique-Philharmonie de Paris, the Festival Avignon, the Institut du Monde Arabe and the Musée de la Musique. Louvre, Musée National Picasso-Paris, Musée d’Orsay, Musée du Quai Branly Jacques Chirac, Paris National Opera, Reunion de Musée Nacional – Grand Palais, Universcience and La Villette. Today, there are approximately 120 places open in France and abroad in media libraries, cultural centers or in this case, a heritage place.
“The goal is to democratize access to culture, especially for residents who are not accustomed to going to museums, theaters or conservatories,” explains mediator Edward Maselin. In Norman Venice, the municipality chose to install this digital museum first in a room for 49 people with a large screen behind the judge’s place and tablets on the seats of civic parties or the public.
It is a cultural space open to all. You can attend for free as a free visitor or as a conference by reservation. With a twenty-minute movie presentation, you press the tablet when the chosen work appears. This allows you to access all the information, games, movies, etc. You can zoom in to see details. The base currently houses three national museums, the Hauts de France collection, the Museum of Mexico, and the European Royal Residences. Soon, there will be a series about the Amazon and the Caribbean and another about the museums of Normandy,” explains the regional agent.
Museum moves
In addition, there is a Fab Lab equipped with two digital printers and a cutting machine for flowing textiles as well as a virtual reality space with 360-degree Arte documentaries. In the adjoining courtroom is a relaxing Café-folie with a game library and library.
Open since May 29, Micro Folie is already attracting a curious, “sometimes-laughing” audience Simon Fleury, Cultural Director.
