Manon Berthelot, Sebastian de Groot and Patricia Rovere, curators of the “Mobile / Immobile” exhibition, will be present at the Ceramics Center on June 6 to welcome visitors and answer all their questions. Originally scheduled for Spring 2020, “Mobile/Not Mobile” has been postponed due to the health crisis. This gallery highlights the work of many talented ceramic artists, including Aster Cassel, Jean-Pierre Chollet, Sébastien De Groot, and Claude Devillard. The Motionless can remind us of silence, not as a lack of something but as a vibrant presence in the world around us, a prelude to a work to come. The mobile can then express itself as an outbreak, and movement becomes spontaneous in a space where expression and creativity take on their full meaning. Can clay evoke and reproduce the imprint of these sometimes silent movements? It moves slowly in stages of erosion, sometimes still according to our perception of time… It ends up settling, frozen due to its sedimentary state. In the hands of the potters, the resilient and resilient clay considers all the effects of its multiple transformations. Discover in mud and fire, during this exhibition, this passage between two persons, so mysterious, this state saturated with impermanence and which invites movement and rhythm as much as it calls for transient inertia.
