As the name of the app suggests, HDMI Link allows you to retrieve video streams from any HDMI-compatible device directly to your Meta headset. To do this, you still need to equip yourself with a video capture box, such as the models from The gateauto act as a mediator.
Once you have it ready, here's the procedure:
- Download HDMI Link App On Meta Quest (2, 3, or Pro);
- Connect the source device (computer, game console, tablet, etc.) to the video capture card via HDMI;
- Connect the headset to the capture card via HDMI to USB-C cable;
- (Optional) Turn on the acquisition card, if applicable, to prevent the headset from being discharged during use;
- Turn on the headset and grant the necessary permissions to view the content.
What is its purpose?
The Meta Quest is truly a versatile VR headset, serving both gaming and work. When you have a strong Wi-Fi connection, the Air Link protocol allows you to stream content from your device Computer Directly on the headset and wirelessly. However, if the connection is weak, we don't want anyone to be able to monitor the content of our screen, or we simply want to be able to stream the content of another device, the options are currently limited.
Thanks to HDMI Link, the user enjoys a large 1080p screen without any latency (because it is connected directly to the source) and is compatible with any HDMI device.
