0.5 percent and more negative interest
Most of the financial institutions rely on the custody fee of 0.5 per cent deposit interest that they have to pay for the funds outstanding at the European Central Bank (ECB). According to Verivox’s assessment, 13 credit institutions require up to 0.55 to 1 percent negative interest from their private customers. In addition, at least 135 financial institutions impose penal interest on a total balance of 50,000 euros or less. In some banks, the custody fee is due from a credit balance of €5,000. The end of the negative interest rate trend does not appear to be in sight.
Negativzinsen unzulssig?

Regardless of whether you are a new or existing customer: The Federation of German Consumer Organizations (VZBV) considers negative interest rates on current and overnight money accounts to be fundamentally unacceptable.
