the cats. After months of preparation, Netflix has started expanding into the gaming arena. The video streaming service made its top five smartphone games available to subscribers on Tuesday. Initially, it can only be played on phones running the Google Android operating system. Apple’s iPhone app is still in progress.
The first titles include two games based on the successful Netflix series “Stranger Things”. There are no ads, no additional fees, and no in-app purchases in the games, Netflix confirmed Tuesday. Netflix subscribers get the games in the streaming service’s Android app. They are not available in children’s profiles.
Netflix bought a developer
Netflix’s plans to make gaming another pillar along with its core video streaming business have long been known. Developer Night School Studio, which was founded in 2014 and best known for its first game, “Oxenfree,” wasn’t swallowed up by Netflix until the end of September.
Since June, the service has also been trying to generate additional revenue with an online store of fan articles.
