Building on the enthusiasm of the first two sessions, the city is offering a third installation party, on August 17, from 2 pm to 7 pm. This event, both technical and friendly, offers an effective solution to revitalize old computers by installing Linux and thus improving their performance. This free operating system, unknown to the general public, is embedded in many of our daily companions: smartphones, connected devices, etc. “Linux has always been seen as a complex system reserved only for geeks. Today it has been widely democratized thanks to the convenient approach that makes it accessible to the general public,” explains Benjamin Drumont, city councilor, computer engineer and initiator of these events. Why install it? “To improve performance,” answers Benjamin Drumont. “Linux is a lightweight operating system and therefore less resource-intensive than Windows. It gives a new lease of life to old computers, avoiding expensive investments but also waste,” says the computer engineer.
