Pascal Gontier Workshop – What is Architecture in Play?

Max Weber Building – University of Paris Nanterre @ Hervé Abadi

In Paris, the Galerie d'Architecture presents an exhibition by Pascal Gontier's workshop entitled What is the game of architecture? which questions the environmental issues of our time. Until September 21, 2024.

The environmental issues of our time, through their scope and complexity, call into question the relationships of human societies with their environment, and thus touch the very essence of architecture.

These issues offer great opportunities to expand the usual areas of investigation, beyond standards and good practice, by appealing to research and experimentation. They also call for the revival of forms as well as constructive and architectural devices that have been gradually abandoned over the past century, as the role of technology in buildings has increased.

Finally, they invite us to approach architecture not only as a recognizable play of volumes assembled under light, but also as a play of atmospheres and sensory materials, space and time, the permanent and the ephemeral, the organized and the organized. Free of designer and inhabitants.

Based on these reflections, the exhibition presents an architectural journey committed to sustainable development over 25 years, interspersed with achievements, projects, research and experiments.
