Qatar Airways allows virtual tours of its aircraft – TOM.travel

Qatar Airways has just launched a platform that virtually reproduces the experience on board its aircraft. Thus the traveler can visit the lounges and planes to see what to expect.

His name is QVerse, a virtual universe that can be accessed on www.qatarairways.com/QVerse Guests are allowed to travel virtually in the Hamad International Airport (HIA) premium check-in area, inside cabins, including Qsuite Business Class and Economy Class, using their personal electronic devices (PEDs). A virtual hostess accompanies the visitor by providing useful information (in English) as well as points of interest spread throughout.

Developed with video game designer Epic Games’ Unreal Engine and MetaHuman Creator, the experience is a cloud-based application for creating photorealistic 3D characters.

Contrary to what the airline claims, it is not a virtual reality experience, because the platform is accessible without a headset, nor the metaverse, because it is neither decentralized, nor open, nor multiuser.
