Ubisoft has provided more details about the so-called “end-game” content for Tom Clancy’s upcoming cooperative shooter, Rainbow Six Extraction. It will be based on constant content updates, which will be offered free of charge to all game owners.
Maelstrom . protocol
Once taken out of the box, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction will showcase the Maelstrom Protocol, a set of weekly challenges designed for players who have taken their clients as high as possible. As part of the Maelstrom Protocol, veteran players will be forced to explore a series of new sub-regions of significantly increasing difficulty, with tougher enemies, limited resources, and limited exploration time.
Upon reaching each checkpoint, the team must decide whether to resort to mining, thus preserving the XP points earned, or venture further in search of greater rewards. Accumulating experience points in this game mode will categorize players into five classes (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond), each offering specific rewards such as cosmetics and in-game credits.
Events and Crisis Missions
In addition to the Maelstrom protocol, the game will gradually add other challenges, such as crisis events and missions. Crisis events are in-game events, available for limited time periods, that will change the rules of the game in different ways: introducing a new team player or a new type of alien enemy. In the first such crisis event – the spread – players will have to deal with the sprawling colony while hordes of ancient aliens try to stop them. These types of in-game events will reward players with new technologies, cosmetics, and various story-related items.
Missions, on the other hand, are weekly game modes that apply various changes to gameplay – for example, Veteran mode will not display the HUD on the screen, apply a limited amount of ammo, and activate friendly fire.
When Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction is released, the game will include Maelstrom Protocol and weekly missions. Crisis events will be available at a later time.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, in collaboration with Ubisoft Bordeaux, Ubisoft Bucarest and Ubisoft Saguenay Studios. The game will be released on January 20, 2022, in versions for Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia and PC via Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect.
