Last week we were talking about Splitgate, a free-to-play FPS that was due to be released today. Unfortunately, today we learned that the game has been postponed for an unusual reason. In fact, the available beta was so successful that the servers were saturated. Faced with this problem, studio 1047 Games decided to review its plans.
Extended beta with more servers
The team had no choice but to expand the beta by increasing server capacity. Obviously, the goal is to check if overloading issues are resolved before launching the game. In the Gamespot article, the studio notes that it has received $10 million from Human Capital to help it boost its infrastructure and accommodate more players.
For now, we know that the game will be available again in its beta tomorrow with 3 new maps in particular and that the release is now scheduled for August. Details will be provided soon on this subject.
