Barone answered a few questions from users, explaining that update 1.6 will also be coming to Nintendo Switch on the same date, and that he highly recommends starting a new game to see all the changes. He also explains that he didn't intend for there to be such a huge gap between the PC and console/mobile versions.
Update 1.6 was very popular among players. Stardew Valley On PC. Looking at the numbers on SteamDB, the game saw its peak player count of 236,614 players on March 24, just a few days after its release. As a reminder, the base game was released in 2016.
This 1.6 release is a giant one. The update adds new festivals, a new farm, new dialogues, a map of Ginger Island, winter outfits, new scenery, and a lot of other fun stuff. For the full list (in English), click here.
I agree with the interested monkey: the magic is when there is something new. Stardew Valleyis starting the game over again. The new Meadowlands Farm lets you start with a chicken coop and two chickens, so I'll stick with that.
