Steam Deck postponed: Valve's Handheld is no longer released this year

Valve pre-orders are currently receiving notifications that the Steam Deck release has been delayed by two months. Originally, pre-orders were supposed to hold the mobile in their hands this year. The global chip shortage is the reason for the delay.

The valve is also missing components

Valve claims that it tried to circumvent issues with global supply chains, but ultimately failed and some components were not available. Valve does not go into details in the email that Steam Deck components are specifically responsible for delays. As a result, the company is no longer able to meet the initial issuance period. Based on current estimates, Valve says that Steam Deck will ship from February 2022.

All pre-orders are delayed by 2 months

From February 2022, Valve will then supply the first pre-orders, because the date only indicates the start of the registration queue. Since all booking holders maintain their corresponding delivery position, the delivery of all subsequent orders are deferred accordingly. At the start of the pre-sale, Valve repeatedly made it possible to pre-order the Steam Deck with a time delay, although the planned delivery of many pre-orders was not until 2022. Until these customers are also informed of when the Steam Deck can be expected, Valve would like to adjust the dates Reservations for all pre-orders in the near future. Customers must be notified as soon as a new delivery date becomes available for their order.

We apologize again for not being able to meet the shipping deadline.
