Many of you wouldn’t hesitate to grab the best gaming monitor or three for the best PC gaming experience, but how many? Extremely Too much on a gaming laptop? The number should be more than seven, according to Expanscape, which has just packed most of the screens we’ve seen in a laptop with a functional prototype and, in fact, is available for purchase.
The Expanscape Aurora 7 It might not look like a flower, but it definitely thrives, with three 17.3-inch screens unfolding behind the main screen, each capable of delivering 4K resolution. From there, two more 7-inch displays with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 appear, with a third screen mounted in the chassis under the keyboard. At only 60Hz, we’re unlikely to be making our list of the best gaming laptops anytime soon.
You even need two batteries to run the thing; One is a whopping 148 watts to handle multiple displays, and the other is 82 watts for the rest of the system. It doesn’t look like you’ll be using the laptop offline for very long, even though the system battery is designed to last between 28 minutes and one hour depending on the processor’s clock speed.
Expanscape is clearly targeting a very specific audience focused on productivity with the Aurora 7, although it does have a good selection of gaming hardware under its brick exterior. Since the laptop is still under development and is currently in operation when it is released, specifications may vary depending on what you are willing to pay for.
At a minimum, the laptop is powered by Intel i9 9900K which can be set between 2GHz and 4GHz, Nvidia GTX 1060 and 64GB and 4.5TB DDR4 RAM divided between two NVMe SSDs and a 2.5 ” 2.5 ” hard case Hard drive This is a setup that will last about an hour without binding unless you replace the battery with a larger one.
However, if you want something newer, Expanscape is ready to stock up to 128 GB of RAM and 8 TB of storage, choosing between the AMD 3950x, Intel i9 10900K, and Nvidia RTX 2070.
There is no generic MSRP for these prototypes, but if you want one, you’ll need to contact the people at Expanscape and sign a contract. We don’t know which counterparts would be more impressed if you showed up with the Aurora 7 in your bag: the fact that you were able to squeeze it out, the seven bright screens, or the size of your arms after pulling that mammoth 12kg device around.
