Intel today announced Tiger Lake H processors for gaming laptops. More than 1 million high-performance CPUs should already be in production at laptop manufacturers.
After AMD’s Ryzen-9 5900HX and 5900HS, high-end gaming laptop is also getting a showcase from Intel. The manufacturer wants to attack the 5900HX with the i9-11890HK and the 5900HS with the i5-11400H. The i5 is closer to AMD’s competitor. The i9 alone can – depending on the application – deliver up to 25 percent more power than the 5900HX.
Asus appears to want to relaunch one or more products from the RoG series right away:

Tiger Lake-H: Tiger Lake is unmistakable, but with more seeds
Like the previously known Tiger Lake processors, the 11th generation H series also relies on a tennm production width and corresponding ultra-high resolution design. Willow Cove engineering is said to account for the lion’s share of the increase in speed.
The H processors also come with built-in AI, Xe graphics, and Wi-Fi 6. Intel’s so-called killer Wi-Fi is said to be three times faster and delivers 75% less latency than Wi-Fi 5.
If ultra-mobile processors are still quad-core, the H series brings the i7 and i9 with eight cores and 16 threads each, plus the i5 with six and 12 cores. The i9-11980HK processor reaches up to five GHz on the core and remains at 4.5 GHz on all eight cores by turbo propulsion. With 20 PCI Express 4.0 lanes instead of the previous four, the platform should take I / O performance to a whole new level. Thunderbolt 4 will also contribute to this with transfer rates of up to 40Gbps. In addition to the 20 PCIe-4 lanes, there are also 24 PCIe-3 lanes.
The H Series is less graphics-powerful, which doesn’t mean Xe’s graphics are poor. However, the architecture does take into account the fact that more expensive laptops and video workstations are usually equipped with dedicated graphics cards anyway – much like Nvidia’s RTX cards.
Compatible with high-end gaming processors, the H Series allows for overclocking. This can be done either directly via Intel Speed Optimizer or adaptively using artificial intelligence with dynamic tuning technology. Extreme-Tuning-Utility provides advanced overclocking software with over 140 setup options for processor clock, memory timing, and voltage settings. It can even be used to control the voltage of individual cores.
Intel also introduces new V-Pro and Xeon processors
With the i9-11950H as the top model, Intel has also launched a new line of processors based on the V-Pro platform. The new W-11000 series brings Intel’s Xeon CPU to mobile devices.
Intel V-Pro is an integrated hardware and software solution that aims to facilitate coordinated enterprise usage management with a primary focus on security and stability aspects.
