(Boursier.com) – Ubisoft He collaborates with director Jean-Jacques Anode and production company Pathé, to create a virtual reality escape game tied to the film Notre-Dame Brûle, which traces the historical rescue of Notre-Dame de Paris, during a fire. for the year 2019.
The game will be offered to all partner operators worldwide from the end of April 2022.
In this co-op game, players embody the firefighters responsible for saving the cathedral’s treasures and then climb to the north bell tower to neutralize the flames there and save Notre Dame. Ubisoft would like to commend the commitment of the firefighters. The game designers also contacted the Paris fire brigade and rescue workers, whose testimonies and advice increased the immersion in the game and the likelihood of its occurrence.
This experience is the latest in a series of collaborations between Ubisoft and Notre Dame. The 3D model, which serves as an adventure theater, was adapted from the game Assassin’s Creed: Unity, released in 2014. Then Ubisoft was allowed to create a 5-minute virtual reality tour of the cathedral, which was shown today to the public at Archaeological Crypt, which is Museum of the City of Paris located under the Place Notre Dame, as well as in the cultural network of Micro-Folies. This model was then reworked to fit the contemporary context of the fire, with essential additions such as the old altar, bell, and scaffolding, but also of course the modern Parisian environment and elements associated with firefighting.
The collaboration with Pathé has allowed Ubisoft to draw on screenplay work by Jean-Jacques Anode and Thomas Bedeguin, based on the reality of the events of April 15, 2019. The game takes inspiration from the details of the day, whether it’s solving the mystery of the Crown of Thorns, or fighting your way through a collapsing tower, Or revive the heroic Last Chance mission in the Bell Tower. “The escape game designed by Ubisoft in parallel with Notre-Dame Brûle offers an impressive original mission in the burning cathedral,” according to Jean-Jacques Anoud. “The stunning views add shivers to this cultural and playful excursion.”
As a leading developer of virtual reality experiences, both fun and cultural, Ubisoft has created 3 virtual reality escape games, already powered by a network of more than 650 rooms worldwide.
With this extraordinary adventure, Ubisoft is confirming its commitment to the restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral to which it has contributed with a donation the day after the fire. Furthermore, 10% of the game’s profits will be donated to the public foundation responsible for preserving and restoring the cathedral, allowing players from around the world to participate in its rebirth.
