From the Road to the Video Game: This is the vision of the new project presented by Porsche. If the brand stands out these days by stepping up its collaboration with TAG Heuer, it has also recently turned to a young Swiss firm to design an experience that combines physical and digital expertise.

The software, currently in development, makes it possible to record any track via a smartphone placed behind the windshield and connected to an app: once photographed and recorded, the track is modeled in 3D.

If eight kilometers of the road can currently be digitized in less than an hour, Way Adead Technologies is working on various functions, such as lateral acceleration and chassis regulation. On a simulator or on a smartphone, users will then be able – virtually – to take the Porsche wheel of their choice in order to drive on these digital circuits, activated by vibrations that reproduce the sensations of the road.

Currently only compatible with the racing game Assetto Corsa, Virtual Roads wants to promote the concept of a community, where everyone is free to share their favorite virtual destinations with other players. Because if the concept is based on the emotional side of the physical experience that is rejected in the digital realm, it also intends to play on a strong feeling: a community belonging to the world of toys, cars and ultimately from Porsche.
