On Monday, July 5, the Tourism Bureau, elected officials and professionals gathered to discuss tourism life. After a complicated year, it’s all about working together to revive the economy of Agglo and Béarn
“We must look to the future and work so that the recovery can be done quickly,” said Michele Pernus, Mayor Jornsson and vice president of the Bau conglomerate. The motto of this day “Les Rendez-vous du Tourisme” is clear: move forward. On Monday July 5, more than 150 tourism professionals gathered at the Palais Beaumont, in Pau, to discuss the recovery of tourism.
For Michel Bernus, the goal of this day is twofold, “to bring together service providers to revive the economy and improve the exchange of information between CityThe conglomerate, the tourism office and the professionals.” Anis Vasseur, director of the Arcade VR room at Liskar, expects a lot from this meeting. There is a desire to “meet other players in the sector” but also to learn “how to define oneself” for the audience.
Video every Wednesday to promote the area
During the press conference, Michel Bernus and Sylvain Langer, Director Pau Pyrenees TourismThe initiatives of the city of Ağlu and the Tourism Office were presented to highlight the strengths of the region. The “Wednesday Video Story” is a prime example. 23 videographers took on the challenge of highlighting their vision for Pau and Béarn. From the snowy Pic du Midi d’Ossau to the balcony café Boulevard des Pyrénées: every Wednesday, a video will be posted on social networks.
Another novelty is the destination magazine “Inspiration Pau”. Sylvain Langer explains that it should help promote Bjarne “off limits and make people want to come”. “For the families out there, they should be able to get together around a table and know what to do with their day thanks to the magazine. It’s also an opportunity to highlight wine tourism in Jurançon. On issues of identity and culture, we have a role to play,” explains Michel Bernus.
Foreign tourists are absent السياح
In a shorter time, the “Summer Refreshment” guide will let the audience know about the main events of the summer. Sylvain Langer’s final goal: “The Tourist Office should be a visit in itself and at the same time an offer to Pau and Béarn,” emphasized its director. To do this, work was carried out at the entrance and the installation of digital instruments. For example, there is a touch screen that lists walking and hiking trails in the area, or a large screen dedicated to visits.
If tourists from France gradually return to Béarn, the same does not apply to foreigners. Lionel Emerizaldo, Vice President of UMIH Béarn et Soule, hopes that “with the vaccine, these customers will be able to return in good conditions.” But the Spaniards have responded since the borders were reopened. “They represent half of our foreign customers,” says Sylvain Langer. If urban tourism has been less successful since the pandemic, Pau has the advantage of being an average city near the mountains and ocean.
