Complete freeze of the project
3 years ago, dear Mark Zuckerberg announced the VR version of GTA: San Andreas on Oculus Quest 2. In fact, Rockstar has decided to return to virtual reality with one of its most popular titles: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. As a reminder, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files already launched Rockstar into VR in 2017.
Meta and the successful development studio worked hand in hand to update this classic game. But after 3 years of silence about the project, we finally know what's happening with the game: Development is on hold indefinitely.
“GTA: San Andreas is on indefinite hiatus while we both focus on other projects. We look forward to working with our friends at Rockstar in the future,” a Meta spokesperson said.
Today no one knows whether the project now expected on Meta Quest will see the light or not. This choice does not seem to have come out of nowhere because it is worth remembering. Meta's Reality Labs division, responsible for virtual reality games, will show a loss of $16 billion in 2023 alone.

The game was released in 2004, and takes us to the fictional state of San Andreas, inspired by California in the 1990s. It includes the three main cities: Los Santos (Los Angeles), San Fierro (San Francisco), and Las Venturas (Las Vegas), with large rural areas in between.
You play as Carl Johnson, CJ to his friends, a young man who returns to his home neighborhood after several years away. He soon finds himself embroiled in stories of gangs, corruption and revenge.
The writing is clearly spot-on, which is a common occurrence in Rockstar games, and the experience is overwhelming, especially in the context of the time. The amount of content is amazing. So go for it, you won't regret it!
