The flight crew then evacuated passengers from the plane, as seen in a video posted by X (formerly Twitter). The panic led to a stampede and one person was taken to hospital after being injured while leaving the plane. Two other passengers suffered minor injuries.

“Our crew quickly removed the bag and all customers exited the aircraft,” the airline said. The computer was submerged in a tub of water by firefighters. American Airlines praised the courage of the staff present: “We thank our crew for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for the inconvenience caused.”
The plane finally took off later in the day.
