The video game developed for the console that was released more than 30 years ago, was ranked eighth in the global ranking of the best games of 2021 by the Digital Foundry.
Manosquins wants to update the Mega Drive console. Simon and Christopher developed Demons of Asterborg on the Sega Mega Drive console built over 30 years ago in 1988.
“We have the game in a boxed version as at the time with the little guide. We can put the game in the physical version directly in your Mega Drive,” explains one of the creators by inserting the game into the console.
“Good memories inspired by our childhood games”
The principle of Demons of Asterborg is to get past the levels by facing enemies called “bosses” who will get in the way of the player. Depending on his success, the following levels can then be unlocked.
“We tried to do something that reminds us of good memories from our childhood games,” the game’s inventors say.
Digital Foundry ranked 8th in the rankings of the best games of 2021.
“The game deserves it, what Simon and Christopher achieved is a masterpiece,” confirms Christophe Ripoll, director of Neofid Studios, the developer behind the game.
The game has also been developed on other, more modern consoles such as the Nintendo Switch or on PC through the Steam platform.
For novice players playing on Mega Drive, allow 10 to 12 hours to complete the game. Some more experienced players may finish the game after 4 or 5 hours of playing.
