Who Said Video Games Don’t Make You Sweat? Delémont recently welcomed a dedicated virtual reality hub. Located in the former Smarty factory, it’s called the first room of its kind in the canton Unix Reality. It was created by four friends from the region, who are passionate about video games: Jan Lovis, his brother Luca, Christina Sayo and Johan Mercay.
The peculiarity of this room is that it allows you to experience virtual reality in a “physical” way. We find the usual headphones and controllers, which allow you to plunge into a virtual world, but this is especially due to the majestic platform equipped with controls that take the game a more realistic dimension. Once immersed in the game, players will have to move by moving their legs. The movements in the game are then replicated using a series of sensors. Visitors can choose between many experiences, exploration, archery games or even games for children. Thomas Nagy attended a session with friends who had never tried the system. It is Jan Loves who gives the explanations:
A way to stand out from the competition
Virtual reality is gradually becoming more popular as entertainment, so places that offer this experience are opening up here and there in French-speaking Switzerland. Therefore, it is also important to stand out from the competition that Salle delémontaine is equipped with these multi-directional platforms, according to Yann Lovis, who explains the origin of the project:
Two weeks after the opening, the crowd appears to be on a date. This weekend was almost full, according to the managers. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the room can only accommodate 9 people at a time. Entry is only possible by reservation. / tna
