Shanghai, March 22 – You will soon be able to post stories to your TikTok account. The Chinese social network is looking to add this format familiar to Snapchat and Instagram users. Launched as a test, the story format is now available to a larger number of users.
TikTok continues to test its story format. The social network known for short video has not given up on its plan to release stories on its platform. The new feature, called TikTok Stories, has been rolling out to more users, but is still in beta form, according to information from TechCrunch. In August 2021, TikTok revealed this new project just as Twitter was finalizing its own version of the story format, called “Fleets”.
“Currently, we are expanding a beta test, which provides creators with additional formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the TikTok community,” a TikTok spokesperson told TechCrunch.
Although the test is not available to all TikTok users, some accounts in the US, UK and France have reported access to this new feature. Several users have posted videos in response to this new feature on the platform.
Just like Instagram and Snapchat, TikTok Stories will only last for 24 hours before being automatically deleted. While such content is ephemeral, it will appear on the “for you” page, TechCrunch revealed. Users will also be able to click on the account’s profile picture to see their story. A blue border will appear around the profile picture if the user posts content in a Story.
Unlike the Meta social network, content creators will not be able to find out the exact names of the accounts that viewed the story, only the number of views. It will allow followers to like and leave a public comment on the story.
Creatively, creators will be able to use filters, music, and effects to tweak their story. – ETX studio
