Windows 11: Use virtual desktops to save time

To increase productivity with virtual desktops, here are the keyboard shortcuts you'll need to know:

  • Windows + Tab : To open the virtual desktop interface. As mentioned earlier, you can also click the Task View button on the taskbar.
  • Ctrl + Windows + D : To create a new virtual desktop and access it directly.
  • Ctrl+Windows+Left/Right Arrow : To move from one desktop to another.

Note that it is possible to rename each desktop by clicking on the name above the thumbnail and typing whatever you want. This will help you distinguish between them better. You can also set a different wallpaper for each of your virtual desktops.

The procedure is the same as usual. See you in Settings > Personalization > Lock screenthen choosebackground And the image you want to use.

Additionally, right-clicking the desktop tile in Task View gives you access to several options for managing the virtual desktop, such as moving the desktop (to the left or right), renaming the desktop, changing the desktop wallpaper, and closing the desktop.

Closing a virtual desktop moves the applications that were open on it to the next desktop on the left.
